On the 6th of February 1840, the Treaty of Waitangi was signed by Rangatira Māori and representatives of the Crown.

This year on the 177th anniversary of the signing of the Treat, in conjunction with Auckland Council, Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei will celebrate the occasion with a fun and informative day out at Okahu Bay, Orakei.

This free community event will feature fantastic local musicians live on the main stage. Come along and join us for this family friendly event that celebrates 2017 New Zealand.

As a family friendly event, 2017 Waitangi Day celebrations at Okahu Bay will be strictly smoke, drug and alcohol-free, with a zero waste focus. Bring along the whole family to enjoy a range of delicious food stalls, an arts and crafts lane, interactive games and activities for kids, and a new mobile. Treaty exhibition from Auckland Museum. Bring a picnic blanket along and set yourself up in front of the stage, and enjoy a quintessential Aotearoa summer’s day.

The first act is on stage at 10:30am, so come along early to score yourself an awesome spot. Don’t forget to bring hats and sunblock, deck chairs and picnic blankets.

Parking will be available on the day. Keep an eye out for our marshalls onsite.
